“What if cats and dogs had opposable thumbs?”

What if …

Have you ever asked this question? What if I made a different decision at this time? How would things be different?

Now, please don’t misinterpret me here - i am not saying live in the past and question every decision you make. Afterall, we make more decisions every day then we could possibly imagine … what i am encouraging you to do is to use your imagination and ask some interesting questions.

March 3 is “What if cats and dogs had opposable thumbs?” day. First off, i never even knew this day existed. Secondly, what a great opportunity to challenge our kids’ imaginations with the possibilities of how life could be different! Here are 20 awesome, thought provoking, open-ended questions to discuss with your child (be sure to pick age appropriate ones). Depending on the question, have them draw a representation of how their world may be different.

At what age is a person an adult? Why do you think so? If could change one rule that your family has, what would you change? What is something that makes your family special? Of all the things you are learning, what do you think will be the most useful when you are an adult? Are you a good friend? Why do you think so? How would the world be different if animals could talk? Would you cheat on a test if you knew you would not get caught? Why or why not?
